ELIMCO is developing a robotic platform in collaboration with Tecnalia as a means to achieve a fluent manipulation of DLOs in the aeronautic industry.

Existing manual or semi-automated manufacturing techniques for wiring harnesses are characterized by operations that are labor intensive and therefore overly sensitive in terms of quality assurance and cost. These circumstances significantly impact the productivity and economics of wiring harness manufacturing. The REMODEL project aims to solve the problem by developing a dual arm robotic cell with capabilities to strongly automate production by robotizing the placement of pins and cables.

In order to achieve this ambitious goal, the system under development will encompass technologies such as 3D Vision System, Collision Avoidance, Teaching by Demonstration or Dynamic Path Adaptation.
